Chief Boima is always into something. Along with his Dutty Artz family, he is at the vanguard of global bass culture, mining the finest up-to-the-minute sounds from the diaspora and beyond. A typical DJ set from Boima is equally likely to include brand new music that he has encountered on his travels as a musicologist, custom edits or remixes from a vast network of like-minded DJs, or classics from hip-hop to salsa. His latest EP, African In New York, is out now and features red-hot refixes of Usher, Sierra Leone's Sorie Kondi, classic Chicago house and several original tracks.
