Discover AtlantASS is the latest step into weirdness for long-running Brooklyn experimental duo Talibam!. After making a name for themselves with their spastic, high-energy prog-punk-jazz psych-outs on King’s County’s musical fringe, keyboardist Matt Motel and drummer Kevin Shea have since dabbled in electro-pop, and most recently, rap. With their latest project, Motel and Shea, along with fellow Brooklyn musician Sam Kulik, delve into musical theatre. Presented by Incubator Arts Project, Discover AtantASS is “part rock show, part absurd theater” and starts it nine-night engagement at St. Mark’s Church on Thursday, June 21st at 8pm. In addition to a recital of the two-part opera, every night of the run (with the exception of Sunday, June 24th) also includes a performance by some of NYC’s most forward-thinking artists from the worlds of poetry, film and music, including Guardian Alien, Cooper-Moore, and Christy & Emily. Advance tickets for the shows are available now, and can be found, along with more information, over at Incubator Arts Project’s website.
