Golden Retriever, after a string of limited edition tapes and LPs on such revered underground labels as NNA Tapes, Root Strata and Gift Tapes, are set to release their most widely available recording to date this July via Thrill Jockey. Occupied with the Unspoken finds the duo of bass clarinetist Jonathan Sielaff and analog synth wiz Matt Carlson at their most concise, whittling down their sprawling cosmic explorations in post-production to form direct, hyper-melodic electronic meditations aimed straight for the third eye. Experimental, but far from inaccessible, Occupied With the Unspoken’s quartet of richly textured pieces blissfully rise, fall and expand according to their own logic, wringing harmony from chaos and vice versa.
