Over the last few years, there has been no shortage of compilations issued that drudge up and re-package post-punk sounds of the past. New Finders Keepers imprint, Cache Cache, has done something nobody thought, or was capable, of doing before—put together a compilation of the innovative sounds being concocted in the garages, basements and bedrooms of Ireland in the first half of the ‘80s. Strange Passion, compiled by DJ and voracious crate-digger Darren McCreesh, is a jaw-dropping survey of bands that sought to further the redesign of rock, pop and electronic music that began at the end of the ‘70s. Sourced from rarer-then-hen’s-teeth vinyl and cassette releases, Strange Passion presents 14 boundary-blurring tracks that few outside of the dusty underworld of obsessive record collectors have heard.
You can exclusively stream Strange Passion in its entirety before it is released next week by clicking on the album image below (or here). After you’ve been floored by the 12 bands it contains, head to Finders Keepers’ website to pre-order the album on CD or vinyl. If digital is your thing, cop the record here.
