Before Jeff Beck, Imelda May Performed Live on EVR. Listen Here.
BADASS BLUESY JAZZY ROOTS ROCK CHICK.
|
 |
For all of you wondering who that badass chick was with singing on stage with Jeff Beck last night, here you go: it was Imelda May. May, who sang "How High the Moon" in a tribute to the late guitar legend Les Paul, is an Irish rockabilly singer based in London. She's released two albums thus far; her indie debut No Turning Back and the acclaimed follow-up Love Tattoo. And if you want to experience some more of this wholly awesome talent, you're in the right place.

Mike Newman, DJ on Beyond Beyond is Beyond, had Imelda in the EVR booth for a live performance back in September. Hear it, along with a lovely interview with this enormously talented and endlessly upbeat charmer, RIGHT HERE.
One last note. Mike also named Imelda's Love Tattoo one of the best of 2009, in the following review:
Soul, rockabilly, blues, R&B... like in the days when such genres were integrated and made a beautiful noise together... Uh-maze-ing! This girl can belt 'em out. And you need to hear her band play live too. Perfectness... really.
